Traditionally illustration has been associated with publishing and, in particular, with books for children and young people. However, illustration is also expressed in other fields including graphic design and animation. During the talk, we are able to see the evolution of illustration since 1975: From the creation of educational materials for the emerging Basque schools to the figure of illustrator in the graphic art workshops. From its presence in the street on posters and record sleeves to the appearance of animation producers in the nineties. The talk goes up to November 2019, discussing the new generation of authors, the appearance of the illustrated album, the work of our illustrators in the international market and the new ways in which illustration is integrated into a constantly evolving market.

Founder member of the Association of Illustrators of Euskadi, Euskal Irudigileak, since 2010 he has led regular gatherings with illustrators. He occasionally writes on different platforms (Rockdelux, Aux, 13millonesdenaves). In 2017, together with Mikel Begoña he wrote his first book, Komikia. El cómic vasco (1975).
He conducts interviews about the sector on the Web bilbao24horas. He published the books-interview Con los codos pegados al torso (Autsaider, 2017) together with Mauro Entrialgo and Back to black (Semana Negra Gijón, 2019) with Víctor Santos. At the same time, his work as an illustrator is of note. Since 2018, he has collaborated with the newspaper, Bilbao creating strips with the City in the background.
