To mark Bilbao Bizkaia Design Week we're bringing together three very interesting studios from the contemporary Bilbao scene to talk about design, projects and their experience working at different scales with some shared characteristics.
Lázaro Estudio is a personal project, born out of a passion for decoration, under the leadership of its guiding light, Raquel Lazaro. With over fifteen years' experience in this fascinating area, Lázaro Estudio has designed some of the most interesting premises of recent years in Bilbao and Madrid, including the Sumo, the Magnum and the Cooper Deli. Lázaro's eclectic style produces spaces with a strong personality of their own.
We will also be welcoming ONYON arquitectura e interiorismo, a studio founded by Hugo Prades and Ion Zubiaurre. With a high level of design and creativity, the duo create simple, refined projects that perfectly match their clients' way of life, combining warmth, wellbeing and functionality. They have taken the bold approach of managing design and construction of their projects themselves. In both working and home environments, this policy is revolutionising the traditional field of alterations. ONYON have worked on international projects for the European Parliament in Brussels, the San Mamés stadium and more locally, on equally interesting designs for workspaces and homes.
Design studio Muka Design Lab will be presenting its Pala chair, nominated for the German Design Award 2020, and its new Abana Bilbao brand of furniture with its first design collection Atlántico and Slow Design. The new collection has already aroused great interest in national and international media, including Design Milk, Interiores Minimalistas and AD magazine.
